Doona Car Seat Manual: Key Highlights

The Doona car seat is an innovative infant car seat designed to transition seamlessly into a stroller, offering both safety and convenience for children weighing 4 to 35 lbs (1.8 to 15.8 kg) and up to 32 inches (81 cm) in height. Here’s an overview of the key highlights from the Doona car seat manual to guide you through its safe and proper use.

Safety Recommendations:

  • Rear-Facing Only: The Doona car seat is for rear-facing use only to maximize safety.
  • Harness & Retainer Clip: Ensure the harness is snug, and the chest clip is positioned at armpit level.
  • Airbag Warning: Never install the car seat in a position with an active frontal airbag.
  • Children’s Positioning: Always install the car seat in the back seat, as this is the safest location for children under 12 years.

Car Seat Installation:

Installing with a Base:

  • LATCH System: The car seat can be installed with the Doona base using the LATCH system or vehicle seat belt. Ensure the base is securely fastened, and the car seat clicks into place.

Installing Without a Base:

  • Lap-Shoulder Belt (European Installation – Preferred): Wrap the shoulder belt around the back of the car seat for added stability.
  • Lap-Shoulder Belt (Standard Installation): If the shoulder belt is too short, use the standard method without wrapping it around the back.
  • Lap Belt Only Installation: For vehicle seats with only lap belts, this installation is also suitable for aircraft use.

General Use:

  • Infant Insert: Use the infant insert for babies under 11 lbs (5 kg). The insert must be removed when the baby’s shoulders are above the lowest harness slots.
  • Head Support: It is recommended to always use the Doona head support, even after the infant insert is removed.
  • Harness Adjustment: Make sure the harness is snug and routed correctly through the shoulder slots. Adjust as your child grows, keeping the straps at or just below their shoulders.

Stroller Mode:

  • Transforming to Stroller: The Doona car seat transitions into stroller mode by unfolding the integrated wheels and adjusting the handle into an upright position.
  • Handle Adjustment: The handle can be rotated into three positions for car seat, stroller, and carrying mode. Always ensure the handle is in the correct position during each use mode.

Maintenance and Cleaning:

  • Fabric Care: The seat pad and sunshade can be machine-washed following the care instructions. Use only mild detergents, and avoid harsh chemicals that could damage the materials.
  • Regular Inspections: Check for wear and tear on the harness, buckles, and overall car seat structure. Replace any damaged components immediately.

Aircraft Installation:

  • Certified for Air Travel: The Doona car seat is approved for use on airplanes, but the base should not be used. The car seat is installed with the lap belt in aircraft seats.

Warranty:

  • Two-Year Limited Warranty: Doona provides a 2-year limited warranty against manufacturing defects. Register your product online within three months of purchase to take advantage of the warranty.
